First sealcoat 12 months after install (once oils have flashed off). After that, a Shreveport driveway with normal use benefits from sealcoat every 3 years. Commercial lots exposed to fuel and heavy traffic: every 2 years.
A typical single-family driveway (300-600 sqft, tear-out + 2" new mat) is a one-day install. Larger jobs with sub-grade rebuild, gravel bases, or drainage tie-ins run 2-3 days. You can walk on new asphalt after 24 hours; drive on it after 3 days.

Resurfacing (mill-and-overlay) leaves the base intact and puts fresh asphalt on top — right when the base is sound and only the surface has aged. Repaving tears out the failed section down to sub-grade and rebuilds. See resurfacing.
